Dynamical Systems and Chaos
Beschrijving
Topics to be covered in the course include:
- center manifolds for vector fields and maps;
- normal forms for vector fields and maps;
- local bifurcations for vector fields and maps;
- fractional order dynamical systems and their stability;
- continuous and discrete time chaotic systems;
- Liapunov exponents;
- Melnikov's method.
Toetsing
The final grade of the course consists of the following components:
- 1 written assignment (AS) with the passing grade of 6.0, which corresponds to 70% of correctly made exercises, and
- oral exam (OE) with the passing grade being 6.0.
Final grade calculation: 0.4*AS+0.6*OE.
Repair possibilities:
- written assignment: re-submit (parts of) the assignment during the course, the repair grade will be capped at 6.0;
- oral exam: resit in the next quarter.
