Data Assimilation
Beschrijving
Data assimilation methods are used to combine the results of a large-scale numerical model with the measurement information available to obtain an optimal reconstruction of the dynamic behavior of the model state. A well-known example is weather forecasting where the numerical model of the atmosphere is continuously updated using the data that becomes available.
The course gives an overview of the various methods used for data assimilation and discusses the underlying mathematical aspects.
