Special Functions and Representation Theory
Beschrijving
In this course we study special functions in connection with representation theory of specific Lie groups and Lie algebras. Topics include:
- Gamma and Beta integrals
- hypergeometric functions
- representation theory of compact matrix Lie groups and their Lie algebras
- representation theory of SU(2) and SO(3)
- Jacobi polynomials and matrix elements of SU(2)
- tensor products and Clebsch-Gordan coefficients
Toetsing
The final grade of the course consists of an exam (80%) and mandatory assignments (20%).
In case of an insufficient result, repair opportunities may be offered in accordance with TER Implementation Regulations Art 5, sub 5, for:
Oral exam: oral resit
Homework assignments: resubmit deliverable
