Partiële Differentiaalvergelijkingen

Second order PDEs : parabolic, elliptic, and hyperbolic PDEs. Derivation of the wave equation and heat equation. Initial and initial-boundary value problems. Waves and reflections. Fourier series and the method of separation of variables. Sturm-Liouville problems. Quasi-linear first order PDEs, and a simple model describing traffic flow.

Written Exam + TH exam (20%), grade max of (0.8*WE + 0.2*THE, WE), Resit no TH exams anymore. Lab work pass/fail (own device, python). The final mark for the course is only valid when all practical work (lab work) has been completed with a pass.

The content of the course WI3150TU + part of the content of course WI3151TU is the same as course AM2070. However, the assessment of AM2070 is not the same as for the courses WI3150TU and WI3151TU. Therefore the courses WI3150TU + WI3151TU cannot be exchanged at will: you must first submit a request to the Board of Examiners.

In case of an insufficient final result, repair options may exist in accordance with Article 2 Examination requirements, Clause 4, of the Implementation Regulations 2023-2024.
