Building with Nature and Beyond

The course deals with the following subjects: 1. Introduction to Building with Nature, 2. Engineering design principles, 3. Ecological design principles, 4. Integrated BwN design using the H-E principles, 5. Integrated design review, 6. Why beyond engineering?, 7. Stakeholder analysis and mapping, 8. Cooperative game theory, 9. Social design principles, the S-principles, 10. Towards coalition building.

Parallel to this course content the students will work on a group design assignment, supported by information provision and discussions in the weekly ateliers.

The final grade is an average of the following 2 grades:

1. Evaluation of integrated BwN designs and designs for social engagement (by applying the H-E and S-principles to 2 assignments in the interactive e-book or MOOCs).

2. Final BwN en Beyond Design Assignment (using the S-H-E principles).

Students must attain a minimum of 5,5 for the two components of the course to pass the entire course. Only the final grade is entered in OSIRIS.
