Writing Academic English using AI

The Writing Academic English using AI course is designed to improve students' academic writing through the strategic and effective use of AI tools. Students will explore and learn to use a variety of AI tools designed for different aspects of the writing process, from finding relevant literature to creating outlines and final editing. The course combines the conventions of academic writing, including text organisation, paragraph development, cohesive devices, grammatical variation and formal language, with practical AI integration. Through practice, students will learn to improve their own writing using a wide variety of AI tools and simultaneously develop critical evaluation skills to assess AI-generated output. The course also addresses the limitations of AI writing tools and looks at ethical considerations and using AI tools responsibly. By the end of the course, students will know more about what is expected of them regarding academic writing and how AI writing tools can assist them while maintaining academic integrity.
