Beschrijving

The course introduces central topics in quantum communication and quantum computing, including:

- quantum bits, their representation using state vectors and density matrices, and fidelity with respect to a target qubit.

- quantum gates and quantum circuit diagrams.

- quantum communication, the no-cloning theorem and quantum key distribution.

- entanglement, its roles as a fundamental property of nature and a resource for quantum technology.

- quantum computation, algorithms and error correction.

Toetsing

A weekly mini-test and a final written exam to assess knowledge and problem solving skills.

Each of the minitests will be allowed to count for up to 5% of your final grade if it increases your final grade. This means that you have nothing to lose by taking a minitest, but you can get early feedback on how you are doing in the course and increase your final grade.
