Information and Computation

Computer architecture, organization and instructions; Digital systems, coding, switching functions, boolean algebra; Logic gates, gate networks, universality; Sequential systems, Finite state machines; Complexity theory; Information theory; Classical error correction.

The course will be assessed through three intermediate tests and one final exam, the latter on all topics. The final grade will be computed according to the formula 50% average grade of the three intermediate tests and 50% grade of the final exam. The final exam must be passed with a minimal grade of 5.0.

There is one additional opportunity that consists on a 3-hours retake on all topics and which will not be averaged with the grades for the three intermediate tests.
