TM MSc Thesis

The third year of the master Technical Medicine (TM) is the graduation year with the MSc thesis as major project. This project is divided in a literature study of 10 EC and a MSc thesis of 35 EC.

The MSc thesis is supervised by one medical and one technical supervisor of which one functions as graduation supervisor.

1. Assesment

Students prepare the MSc thesis as a scientific paper written in academic English with complementing appendices to cover all work. The thesis project is evaluated on four aspects: the content and process of the thesis work, the scientific paper with complementing appendices, an oral presentation (graduation colloquium) by the MSc candidate and an oral examination (in Dutch or English) before an MSc examination committee.

Based on the grade given by the "afstudeercommissie".

3. Further information

- Before the start of the MSc thesis your graduation plan needs to be approved.

- During your project there will be several informal feedback sessions (week 2 and week 12).

- To monitor clinical exposure during the master thesis project clinical practical observations are collected with two forms: 1) korte klinische beoordelingen (KKB) en 2) OSAT-formulieren. For the master thesis an average of 20 observations (signed forms) is asked with a required minimum of 10 observations and a maximum of 28 observations.

During year 2 and 3 of the master Technical Medicine there is a requirement of 60 clinical practical observations in total.
