TIL Research and Design Methods
Beschrijving
The course TIL4030 Research en Design introduces, discusses and practices research en design methodologies in the Transport, Infrastructure and Logistics domain on the basis of cases and problems along the four Specialisations in the MSc TIL program. Through workshops, exercises, an integrated design exercise (in Q1) and a research project (Q2) students bring the knowledge and skills into practice.

A. Integrated design exercise report (assignment, group work)
B. Written exam on design methodology (individual), via digital closed book examination
C. Scientific Paper (assignment, group work)
Parts A + B = 5 ECTS (in Q1)
Part C = 2 ECTS (in Q2)
A. The integrated design exercise is a group assignment and is thus graded as group work.
To be able to pass, the grade of this assignment must be equal or higher than 5.0. The weight of this part is 2/3 of 5 ECTS (48% of the course result).
B. The written exam on the design methodology is assessed individually.
To be able to pass, the grade of this individual exam must be equal or higher than 6.0. The weight of this part is 1/3 of 5 ECTS (24% of the course result).
C. The scientific Paper is again a group assignment, graded as group work.
To be able to pass, the grade of this assignment must be equal or higher than 5.0. The weight of this part is 2 ECTS (28% of the course result).
GIVEN A >= 5.0, B >= 6.0, C >= 5.0, the overall score for the course is determined by:
0.48 * A + 0.24 * B + 0.28 * C
