Algorithms and Data Structures

Algorithms and Data Structures teaches you how to choose the right algorithm and the right data structure for your problem. It teaches you how to analyse algorithms and data structures and how you can use this information to make your choice.

You will also learn how to implement various algorithms and data structures that you will often need when programming.

In the final lecture we will discuss problem complexity instead of the algorithm complexity we discussed until then.

This course has 2 exams of 2 hours each, both made on a computer:

• Midterm (40%): This exam will consist of a combination of multiple-choice, open and programming questions about the first half of material in the course

• Endterm (60%): This exam will consist of a combination of multiple-choice, open and programming questions about the second half of the course. There are no questions purely about the material of the first half of the course but the material of course builds on top of the ealier weeks so you still need to know the previous half.

The exam grades are rounded to 1 decimal. The weighted average of these rounded grades is rounded to 0.5 and needs to be at least a 6.

If you do not reach this grade, there will be a resit for each of the exams in quarter 2.
