SDGs challenges are typical wicked problems characterised by complexity, ambiguity, multi-framing, and diverse views. Accordingly, this challenge-based learning module teaches students to identify, develop, and take ownership of a compelling, concrete, and actionable SDG challenge, blending systems thinking with the insights from Social Triangulation Theory. It also guides them in applying tools, enabling them to contextualise their learning experience with the SDG actionable challenge grounded in complex and inter-organizational theory. SDG challenges are co-defined with partner organisations based in South Holland, including public, private, profit, and non-profit organisations. Corresponding tools are put into action for students to suggest roadmaps for transformation. As a challenge-based module, this course focuses on guiding the engagement and investigation of the SDG actionable challenge with the partner organisation (client). The process includes:

·         The co-definition of the SDG challenge and the ambition for sustainable impact with the partner organisation (client).

·         The overall characterisation of the challenge context, considering the SDG nexus approach and the perspective of long-term value linked to the regional development partner in South Holland.

·         The identification of a complex-sensitive theory of change, including the characterisation of challenge, matching the levels of organizational responsibility of involved actors, and possibilities of collaboration and partnership.

The outcomes of the course to be delivered are

·         A fresh view of the SDG challenge of the client organization as a matter of (inter) organizational responsibility across state, market, and civil society.

·         A screen of new potential partners to share responsibility in tackling the SDG challenge.

·         A system map showing how partnering drives responsibility for change in tackling the client SDG challenge.
