Course description

Accordingly, it makes a case for organisational transformation to tackle the SDG challenge through collaboration across public, private, and community organisations. Consequently, students learn the principles of organizational theory as a basis for identifying different levels of responsibility to address sustainability issues and exploring partnerships across the State, Market, and Civil Society. The course provides the theoretical basis for understanding when an organization has responsibility and when it can take responsibility to overcome these issues and their negative impact on its stakeholders and society at large.

This theoretical basis provides practical tools for matching sustainability issues, organizational responsibilities, and inter-organizational arrangements, with an emphasis on the South Holland and Dutch contexts. Hence, the course focuses on SDG challenges and inter-organizational opportunities within the economic, social, political, and environmental dimensions of development, shaping ongoing economic, societal, and environmental challenges in the region. Overall, students are expected to develop solid theoretical,  practical skills, and professional criteria to identify leverage points for roads of transformation and partnership for sustainability by identifying individual and inter-organizational responsibilities.
