Introductie in Technology Based Entrepreneurship

Many entrepreneurship programs are derived from management programs and are intended to teach managers how to become more entrepreneurial, yet they are not aimed at the entrepreneur as such (Katz, 2007). For example, in business schools the focus is much on 'the' ingredient of entrepreneurship: a business plan presented through a series of case studies and lectures (Carrier, 2007, p. 143). While understanding how big organizations and managers think about entrepreneurship is important, in this course we will focus on what it means to be an self-employed entrepreneur, someone who takes the risks on personal account. We will focus on what it takes to become a successful entrepreneur, what entrepreneurial activity is and why teams of entrepreneurs are considered more resilient in the face of uncertainty.

The majority of this course's lectures will take place during the first week of the minor programme, serving as an intensive kick-off. This week will also focus on forming the teams for the core project that you will develop across multiple courses throughout the minor.

The course is graded as fail and pass. The grading is based on

Group grading:

1. Final team report on team learnings and dynamics (40%)

Individual grading:

2. Interim report on self-reflection on individual entrepreneurial competences, team competences and your own role in the team(20%)

3. Final report on self-reflection on individual entrepreneurial competences, team competences and your own role in the team (40%)

Entrepreneurial development will be expected to be documented via social media.

Groups are consist of 4-5 students.

Min 70% participation to lectures and coaching sessions and learning circles is required. Otherwise, students fail.

The final reports will be submitted after the completion of the minor program (at the end of Q2)

In order to pass, students should pass all of the individual and group assignments separately.

In case of fail, students will be given an additional assignment in addition to the missing/incomplete assignment.

Additional assignment need to be completed within Q3.
