The aim of the Introduction to MedTech Entrepreneurship is to inspire and prepare students to use their engineering skills and envision novel technologies in order to solve the challenges that patients and health professionals face.

This is a blended course, students are expected to prepare the course material online before coming to class. Workshops and discussions are scheduled in the first two weeks of the MedTech Minor program.

There may be guest lectures, participation to the assigned guest lectures is compulsory. Students are expected to take notes and ask questions during the lectures.

Toetsing

Each group of students (around 5 students) will receive a grade as a group for the verbal delivery of a presentation, also to be submitted online. Final grade can either be Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory (Voldoende and Onvoldoende). The topic of the presentation should be about the challenges for different stakeholders to collaborate in the theme of fundamental healthcare technology entrepreneurship or healthcare service entrepreneurship. This will be further explained online on Brightspace at the start of the course.

  • groups? We expect to you to work independently, introduce yourself, network with each other and form groups in an efficient manner. Please form groups of about 5 people with diverse backgrounds from different faculties between yourselves in coordination with dr. Asli Boru from the Project Integration course as you will use the same groups in this course.

  • minimum grade needed in order for it to be a part of the final grade? PASS (equals 5.5)

  • A partial grade is valid for only 1 academic year, unless stated otherwise.

  • This is a short quick course with a summative assessment at the end of the course, but all students need to tack the each quiz on Brightspace before coming to class.

The satisfactory grade equals to a 5.5. on a scale of 5 to 10 and is graded based on a rubric, which is shared with the students. Students get notified about their results and can consult the grade by contacting the course lecturer. Students can retake the assessment.
