QUARTER 2
A series of lectures will provide you with the background knowledge of electricity and heating systems necessary to complete the project.
The lectures cover the following topics:
Fundamentals of power engineering.
Distributed renewable electricity generation (solar and wind).
Battery energy storage.
Fundamentals of geothermal heat generation.
Fundamentals of heat storage.
Economic and environmental aspects of energy systems.
QUARTER 3
You will work in groups to design and model an integrated energy (electricity + heat) system.
The project is divided into three phases:
Design and modelling of the electricity and heat generation sub-systems.
Design and modelling of the electricity and heat storage sub-systems.
Integration of the sub-systems and design of a system control strategy.
QUARTER 4
You will perform an economic and environmental analysis of the system and prepare a scientific report summarising the project's main results.
