Design of Integrated Energy Systems
Beschrijving
The course challenges students to tackle an integrated energy system design problem through a modelling project. Students must envision a creative integrated energy system design problem. Hence, they evaluate the expected performance of one or more promising system designs for the defined problem.
The design challenge is complex and requires students to: take into account dynamics on the short and long term; tap into relevant knowledge on technological developments; consider various parts of the value chain, in terms of energy, mass, financial and information flows; and address the multi-actor and multi-level complexities.
Students must perform the above analyses with a set of quantitative modelling tools made available for this course, some used in earlier courses in the Energy Track, some developed by research institutes and companies, and others used in ongoing academic research at the faculty.
Toetsing
An individual grade will be assigned based on the following deliverables:
The group project report, which describes the assessed integrated energy systems design options and their performance
An individual appendix with a personal reflection and a description othe f contribution to the project
