CoSEM Research Challenges

This module provides students with an in-depth overview of the state of the art in a research challenge related to socio-technical systems design, by conducting and reporting a structured literature review. In addition, workshops are provided in which issues of scientific integrity are addressed. The module can inspire students in selecting electives and their topic of the master thesis project in the second year of the CoSEM programme, in relation to the research themes at the TPM Faculty. The students are supervised in small groups by a research theme leader based on their preferences for a research theme.

The assessment of the module consists of two partial marks:

1. writing an individual academic article in which a structured literature review on a topic within the research theme is presented (individual assignment): 80%

2. writing an individual reflection on aspects of scientific integrity within the research theme topic (individual assignment): 20%

These assignments need to be scored at least 5; the final mark needs to be a minimal 5.75.

In case of a sufficient mark for these assignments, no retake is allowed.
