Vision and Reflection

The modern robotics engineer is expected to have not only technical knowledge but also transferable skills, such as being able to work in teams, (self-)leadership, decision-making and communication skills, the ability to plan and prioritise goals and tasks, and the ability to reflect on experiences.

The goal of RO47011 is to further engage you in your personal and professional development. You will learn what kind of robotics engineer you would like to be, set goals and make a development plan, commit to your plan, and adjust your goals and plan based on your experiences.

Talking about how you do things and what motivates and demotivates you requires practice and interpersonal interaction. Therefore, you will be encouraged to engage in conversations and practice giving and receiving constructive feedback. At the end of this course in Q2, you will have laid the groundwork for being a reflective engineer now and in the future.

The obligatory deliverables are:

1. An elevator pitch presentation in which you introduce yourself and your ambitions: who are you and what kind of engineer would you like to be? (Q1, introduction week).

2. Your presence at a workshop that is connected to the RO47006 course (Human-Robot Interaction), during which you will work together with your mentor group on an assignment (Q2).

3. A vision presentation with your goals and personal development plan to your mentor group and a discussion in your mentor group (Q2).

You will have to complete all three above-mentioned activities at a sufficient level to pass the course. The grade is insufficient if any of the three activities are not completed. There is no resit.
