Orientation Team Project
Beschrijving
The main goal of this course is to develop several skills whilst getting the opportunity to orient yourself in the field of quantum technologies. Students will work together in teams of about 5 members, ideally stemming from different backgrounds (physics, math, computer science, astronomy and electrical engineering). In these teams, you will be assigned a quantum-related project by a client, and you will have to learn to effectively work together as a team. The focus of the course is *not* on the content of the project, but rather on the execution of it. This course is an important preparation for the MTP course in the second year, but more importantly also to identify knowledge gaps and topic preferences; follow-up courses in the QIST MSc track can then be chosen based on this.
The projects ideas are defined by clients, and the teams will have to coordinate with the clients to decide on what a successful outcome of the project means. The teams will also have to:
- write a report-style document on the project and the solutions obtained
- make use of the scrum methodology to structure the project and manage it
- design and give a presentation on their project, as the final assignment
