Beschrijving

This course teaches the basic determinants and elements of biomolecular structure and dynamics, structure-function relations, and current methods in structure determination, with a focus on proteins and their complexes with other biomolecules. It furthermore provides practical information on how to navigate the publicly available structural databases and how to interpret, analyze and optimally visualize biomolecular structures.

Toetsing

1. The assessment consists of: Class and Homework Assignments (20%), Midterm written Exam (25%), Final written exam (55%). Both exams are done on computers.

1.a the midterm exam is scheduled for week 1.5

1.b the final exam is scheduled for week 1.10
2. The resit consists of: a single exam covering the complete course (80%) (so no separate resit for midterm)

2.a the resit of the written exam is scheduled for week 2.7  

3.a The deadline for the assignment submission is:  every Sunday after lecture at 23.59 pm. Answers to assignments will be made available in the following week (so late submissions will not be graded; see point 6 for exceptions).

3.b Each assignment will be worth 2 points if sufficiently completed, 1 point if answers are missing, 0 points if mostly incorrect or empty.

3.c There is no resit for assignments. Points obtained this year will carry over to next year.
4. The final grade is composed as follows:  (points for assignments (max 20) + points for midterm exam (max 25) + points for final exam (max 55))/10

4.b The final grade after resit is composed as follows: (points for assignments (max 20)+ points for resit (max 80))/10
5. Registration for exams is done via: Osiris. 

6. Students needing to turn work in late due to personal circumstances must contact the Academic Counsellor prior to turning it in to make arrangements. Other late work might not be graded.
