Beschrijving

Chemistry studies the composition, properties and transformations of matter. Chemical principles apply to living organisms and knowledge of chemistry is essential for the understanding of biological processes. Understanding chemistry is especially important for research at the nanoscale, where complex interactions between molecules are governed by chemical forces and barriers.

In this course the student will learn the fundamental properties of atoms and molecules, how they react with each other and obey the laws of thermodynamics. In addition, the student will obtain basic knowledge of analytical and spectroscopic techniques used in life sciences.
