Materials Elective R II
Beschrijving
This elective course (6 ECs) allows students to study a selected aspect (as a project) of Materials Science and Engineering in greater depth than is covered in the general MSE masters curriculum. The project can be literature-based, laboratory-based or numerically based and should lead to an enhanced understanding of the selected topic.
The project will not be permitted as part of a students course list unless approved a priori. The MSE coordinator (MSEcoordinator-ME@tudelft.nl) will assess the relevance and applicability of the proposed project to the MSE programme and the suitability and academic level of the proposed supervisor.
The MSE master coordinator must approve proposals for projects (and supervisors) BEFORE being undertaken by the student.
The student will gain experience performing an investigative task and applying a critical attitude to the methodology and outcomes of the work. The project will be assessed based on a written report (or scientific paper) and will be marked by the project supervisor (MSE staff member) using the corresponding grading matrix.
The MSE education coordinator will check and, if necessary, moderate the mark before submission in Osiris.
The elective is only open to students following the Materials Science and Engineering master. The elective project can only be done within the MSE department's research lines and facilities.
This course cannot be on the same topic as Materials Elective Project I (MS43702) or the External Research Project (MS53200).
