Materials for Hydrogen and Solar Energy Technology

New technologies require new materials. This course starts with a brief overview on the energy consumption, resource constraints and sustainable alternatives. Within that framework the focus of the course is on materials and devices for solar energy and the production and use of hydrogen as an energy carrier.
Materials design, manufacturing and materials behaviour under process conditions is addressed.
Toetsing
The examination will be as follows: Written or digital open book exam and an oral presentation + discussion; presence during the oral presentation sessions is obligatory. The oral part of the exam (presentation on recent scientific papers) will take place during the last weeks of the course during regular lecture hours.
In case of unforeseen circumstances or measures resulting from a pandemic or other, the prescribed assessment will be: Written open book exam through online assignment and, oral presentation (on recent scientific papers) + discussion in online sessions (Zoom, Teams or other).
