Joining Technologies

The course will address a range of joining technologies for different material classes (ceramics, polymers, metals), examining the major features, limitations and applications of selected material – process combinations. Attention will be paid to the influence of joining on material properties and the influence of the joint on the structure (where applicable). For the chosen case studies, the selection of joining method and consequences in terms of production and lifetime performance will be assessed and associated failure behaviour will be described.
