Mechanical Behaviour of Materials
Beschrijving
This course provides the essential knowledge required to understand and predict the mechanical behaviour of materials. The following aspects are addressed and illustrated with reference to a specific material class (in brackets):
Tensors and kinematics
Strain and Stress
Linear elasticity
Finite-strain hyperelasticity (rubber/biological tissues)
Viscoelasticity (polymers)
Plasticity (metals)
Toetsing
Two homework assignments will be given at the mid-point and end of the course. Each assignment will account for 10% of the final grade (cumulatively, 20%). The rest 80% of the final grade will be assessed by a written final examination.
Note: Exam will be conducted with open lecture-notes. Books and electronic devices are not allowed. Students are advised (not mandatory) to make their own concise formula sheets for the exam. Simple calculators are allowed. Graphing calculators are not allowed.
