Characterisation of Materials

This course introduces general research tools in materials science. The following modules constitute the course, although the number and content of modules may be slightly different from what it is included here. If that is the case, students will be informed through Brightspace.

- Module 1: Optical Microscopy

- Module 2: Electron Microscopy

- Module 3: Thermal analysis

- Module 4: Mechanical Behaviour

- Module 5: Electrochemistry

- Module 6: X-ray diffraction

The assessment of the course includes:

- Group assignments (70% of the grade).

- An individual exam (30% of the grade).

Students are required to obtain a minimum mark of 6 for both parts in order to pass the course.

Peer-reviewing will be considered in the final grade (+/- 1 point)

The online course includes individual questionnaires and quizzes for self-assessment that will not contribute to the grade.
