Beschrijving
Optical sensors and actuators are being integrated at an accelerated rate into mechatronics systems making these systems more precise, autonomous and intelligent. In this course the principles of optics, optomechanics and optical detectors are taught and discussed from the perspective of integration in optomechatronics systems for increased performance and improvement/addition in functionality. Topics included in this course are:
Optical measurement methods, tolerance, alignment and sensitivity analysis.
Total system design where optical requirements can be translated to mechanical and mechatronical requirements.
Sources of light and optical detectors
System performance metrics (SNR, reliability, accuracy).
