Refrigeration and Heat Pumps Fundamentals
Beschrijving
The course consists of the following content:
-Introduction of thermodynamic cycles for heating and cooling. The working field of refrigeration and heat pumps;
-Overview of the most important refrigeration / heat pumps systems: Mechanically driven heat systems, thermally driven systems, solid state systems and gas cycles. Comparison of these systems;
-Components of refrigeration and heat pump cycles (compressors, valves, condensers, evaporators, turbines etc.);
-analysis of cooling and heating cycles using the 1st and second law of thermodynamics, exergy analysis;
-gas liquification;
-techno-economic analysis of refrigeration and heat pump cycles;
-Working fluids. Refrigerants for mechanical vapour compression; refrigerating machines: limits of application, evaluation of ODP and GWP;
-Gas cycle refrigerating machines. Gas-phase cycles;
-Magnetic refrigeration / heat pumping;
