Microfluidics: Applied Theory and Lab
Beschrijving
In this master level course, you will be introduced to the important theoretical concepts of fluid flow (low Reynolds number hydrodynamics, transport phenomena on the micron scale, electrical double layer, electroosmosis and electrophoresis) relevant to the general design and fabrication of microfluidic devices and circuits (e.g., channels, valves and flow controllers) .
You will apply these general concepts in a group project, which includes the design, the fabrication, and the testing of a microfluidic device (e.g., droplet generator, liquid steering in channels with valves/pumps, flow rate measurement, visualization of laminar and parabolic flow, diffusional mixing and effect of flow rate, microchip gel electrophoresis for dye separation).
