The DATA course introduces (digital) data as both a technical and a design material. The former refers to data as a foundational element within products and services. The latter refers to data as an essential part of the design process.

This course will walk you through the fundamentals of data types and methods for data collection, modelling, analysis, and visualisation. We will use real-world examples from products and services, and design case studies to illustrate these concepts and methodologies in action.

The course combines theory and practical exercises. You will develop the ability to implement complete data pipelines for the design of products and services through a blend of lectures, readings, and practical activities. By course completion, you will be equipped to engage with every stage of the data lifecycle, from collection to visualization, enabling you to apply these skills effectively in real-world design settings.
