Strategic Integration of Sustainability in Design
Beschrijving
This is a theme course of IPD theme 2: Sustainable Design.
Strategic Integration of Sustainability in Design will introduce students to the strategic business and design considerations of Design for Sustainability in practice. The first part of the course focuses on the strategic reasoning of how and why various organisations choose for sustainable innovations. The second part of the course will introduce the students to Sustainable Business Models (SBM) and Sustainable Product Service Systems (SPSS) and how to integrate them into design practice.
Toetsing
The study goals of this course will be assessed by:
- Group assignment 1 (40%)
- Group assignment 2 (50%)
- Presentations (10%)
Formative:
- Groupwork, Coach feedback using a rubric.
- Coach feedback on presentation skills (visual, oral and debating).
Summative:
- a final report of assignment 1 on the critical evaluation of the integration of sustainability in a business case (Harvard Business Case) (40%).
- a final report of assignment 2 on applying and analysing SBM and SPSS tools in two cases in a similar sector (50%).
- Visual and oral presentations of assignment 1 and 2 (10%).
