Advanced Visualisation for Communication

This course focuses on the accurate and communicative visualisation (depiction) of information and processes, which concerns (design) narratives such as journeys, roadmaps, data visualisation and design proposals, etc., aligned to pedagogic goals.

The course offers a general course-wide and integrating module, relevant to the different tracks of which each concerns a different focal area.

Theory module

The theory module will include a theoretical grounding with the help of literature, deepening lectures, instructions and optional excursions. The integration of theory connects theory of visualisation with the teaching and applying of visualisation knowledge and skills.

The tracks concern graphic design, process/system visualization, customer and patient journeys, and technology and visualization (subject to change).

Tracks

Various tracks offer different ways and application areas of visualisation, aligned to the interests of students from all IDE Masters programs. The tracks will concern both analogue and digital formats and tools.

The course will utilise software, tools and learning platforms in order to facilitate both contents and management (communication) of the course.

The study goals of this course will be assessed by:

- Visual individual report (80%)

- Individual exam (20%)

1. Visual report containing portfolio of all exercises, works en visualizations produced during the course and includes considerations, decisions, reflection

2. Exam (visual and written) that concerns theory, and a substantiated and well-formulated evaluation of visual work.
