This version of the graduation project is for students starting their master on or after September 2024.

The graduation project gives the student the opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they acquired during their studies. Completing the graduation project successfully is a condition for being awarded the Master of Science degree.

The graduation project can be seen both as an individual achievement, and as a learning experience. The scope is therefore not only on testing competences, but also on the development of knowledge, understanding and skills during the project.

The graduation project is considered to be a stepping stone to a future professional career. A high level of independence is therefore expected from the student in the planning and execution of the assignment and in the acquisition of knowledge, understanding and skills.

A student may start the graduation project under the condition that he has passed all mandatory/first year courses of the Master's Program and the Project Brief is approved by the Board of Examiners.

During the graduation project, there are three formal moments when the students' work is assessed: Mid-term, Green-light and final assessment. The assessment of the graduation project is supported by a formal, detailed rubric.

The deliverables for the graduation project consist of:

• A report providing insight in the process and project results

• A showcase (either a prototype or model, a movie or a poster).

• A public presentation (at the graduation day)

An evaluation of the project with the supervising team, consisting of a chairman and a mentor from IDE and, when applicable, an external mentor, is scheduled directly following the public presentation.
