Radar I: From Basic Principles to Applications

FaculteitElektrotechniek, Wiskunde en Informatica
NiveauMaster
Studiejaar2025-2026

Beschrijving

The course consists of three major parts. In Part 1 the fundamental issues of radar (signal and target models, range and velocity measurements with electromagnetic waves) are discussed. Part 2 of the course is focused on building an instrument (radar) that can sense objects remotely using microwaves. Attention is given to FMCW radar technology. In part 3 on examples of automotive radar and atmospheric remote sensing applications the radar signal processing and information extraction from radar signals are studied. Discussions on radar and remote sensing general principles are complemented by an analysis of modern radar systems designed and implemented at TU-Delft. The course includes a few practicum tasks, providing students with an experience in the experiments with real radars and in the processing of signals measured with a few types of radars.
