The course addresses the impact of microtechnologies on medicine and biology.
The following topics are part of the course:
- Biomicroelectromechanical systems (BioMEMS)
- Sensors en Actuators
- Micro- and nano-fluidics
- Lab-on-CMOS
- Electrophysiological recording systems
- Neurostimulation
- Electroceuticals and bio-electronic medicine
- Electromagnetics for MRI
- Ultrasound (incl. intravascular ultrasound)
- Biomedical signal processing
- Biocompatibility and safety
Toetsing
Minithesis on a topic of the course and (depending on lecture attendance) homework (25%).
The minithesis has the form of a scientific article (6-10 pages, figures included, double-column format) and offers a review of the topic of study and the author's own interpretation/extrapolation/view on the matter.
In case of an insufficient final result, repair options may exist in accordance with Article 17A, Times and number of examinations, sub 1, of the Teaching and Examination Regulations.
