Electrical Machines and Drives

The course gives an overview of different types of electrical machines and drives. Various types of mechanical loads are discussed. Maxwell's equations are applied to magnetic circuits including permanent magnets. DC machines, induction machines, synchronous machines, switched reluctance machines, brushless DC machines and single-phase machines are discussed with the power electronic converters used to drive them. Three lab practicals for DC machines, Induction machines and Synchronous machines, respectively.

The final grade of the course consists of the following components:

- Written exam (100% Weightage) - Closed book, Scientific (non-graphic) calculator can be used, No formula sheets.

- Completion of the three lab practicals and approval of the lab reports is obligatory to complete the course.

Repair possibilities: Written exam as Resit in next quarter

In case of an insufficient final result, repair options may exist in accordance with Article 17A, Times and number of examinations, sub 1, of the Teaching and Examination Regulations.
