Introduction to TPM Modelling

Summary

This module introduces two different methods for modelling and simulating complex socio-technical challenges. Students learn the methodological and practical foundations ofSystem Dynamics and Agent Based Modelling. The course follows the five phases of the modelling cycle: (1) Problem articulation, (2) Conceptualisation, (3) Formulation, (4) Evaluation, and (5) Model use and Policy analysis. The course combines input lectures (1/3 of the time) and practical modelling sessions (2/3 of the time).

Summative assessment (individual grade): This course is examined through an in-person, written, online, open-book computer exam. After grading, the grades and student answers will be made available online.

EPA123A also offers two formative tests that serve as practice for the final, summative exam.

A retake exam will be scheduled in Q3 for students who have not passed the course in the first attempt or wish to improve their grade.
