Beschrijving

This equivalency course replaces the following course from the old master programme: CIE5704. It is equivalent to parts of the module ENVM1600 in the new MSc Environmental Engineering programme. Please see the study guide description of ENVM1600 and the information below. Please contact the responsible lecturer at the start of the module for registration and additional information.

Water treatment is needed to provide humans with water of sufficient quality to use it safely for purposes ranging from drinking to industry and to avoid pollution of the living environment.

In this course you will learn how to develop and research a water treatment technology for the treatment of either groundwater, surface water, municipal sewage and industrial water. Specific attention will be given to health impact, resource recovery and closing the urban water cycle.

Additionally to the project work, a lecture series will provide you with the following content:

• How to design your water technology (experiment)

• Modelling of experiments

• Ethics, choices and responsibility in research and design

• Scaling up/scaling down: from lab results to full scale
