This course is a part of ENVM1602-24 Regional Hydrology, but it can be followed as a separate elective. Please contact the instructor in case you are interested in taking this course as a separate elective.
Students learn how to model groundwater systems. Different modeling approaches are applied in exercises to assess the environmental impact of man-made changes in the geohydrological system.
Topics include:
The analytic element method and the finite difference method (including MODFLOW).
Comparison of grid-based methods and analytical methods.
Design of well fields including capture zones and wellhead protection
Pumping test analysis
Travel times
Time series analysis of groundwater time series.
Prediction of groundwater heads in wet and dry periods.
