Communication Networks and Algorithms
Beschrijving
This course provides an introduction to telecommunication networks, which includes local area networks, wireless/mobile networks and the Internet.
The course will introduce the OSI and TCP/IP protocol suites and will describe the operation of the OSI layers. During the course, will discuss, among other topics, the operation and concepts of the Data Link, Network, Transport, and Application layers of the OSI model.
To address communication network problems effectively, our typical approach begins with crafting a suitable model tailored to the problem at hand. Once the problem is accurately modeled using an appropriate data structure, attention can be directed towards devising solutions for the modeled scenario. The selection of the most suitable data structure holds paramount importance in generating efficient and, importantly, optimal solutions. Typically, solutions for such problems manifest in the form of algorithms. Hence, our journey will encompass techniques for problem modeling, algorithm selection, and the utilization of various data structures such as graphs and trees.
