- System grounding - types, characteristics, and the effects on fault current behavior

- Instrument transformers

- Fundamentals of Power System Protection

- Overcurrent protection

- Transformer protection

- Distance protection

- Fault locators based on point-of-wave and synchrophasor measurements

- Testing of power system protection by RTDS and Omicron

Toetsing

The exam is conducted as a written exam and consists of several questions and problems. The questions can be short (answering some features occurring in the protection principles or grounding aspects). The student can also be asked to explain a process related to a particular protection function or to solve a problem that is aligned with the material studied during the course. The complexity and time required to solve a particular problem determine the points awarded. The exam is passed when the student scores more than 57 %. Resit is possible according to the examination schedule.

The course content is divided into 8 chapters, which weigh equally. Hence, the exam may cover questions and solvable problems/exercises related to all chapters.

In case of an insufficient final result, repair options may exist in accordance with Article 17A, Times and number of examinations, sub 1, of the Teaching and Examination Regulations.
