Linear Algebra
Beschrijving
Linear Algebra is a branch of mathematics which is based on two mathematical operations: addition and (scalar) multiplication. Despite this deceptive simplicity, it has a vast variety of applications, both within and outside mathematics.
This course is an introduction to several fundamental aspects of Linear Algebra, like vector calculation, solving systems of linear equations and matrix algebra, and notions like linear combinations, linear (in)dependence, linear transformations, subspaces, bases, dimension, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, diagonalisation, standard inner products, and orthogonal projections.
Toetsing
Non-mandatory midterm and mandatory endterm written exam. The final grade is given as the weighted average of the midterm and endterm grades. If the endterm grade is lower than the midterm grade then the endterm grade has double the weight of the midterm grade. Otherwise the final grade is the endterm grade. There is also a resit written exam which counts for the full grade, so the midterm is never averaged with the resit grade.
