Thesis Project

The Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Technology (DSAIT) Thesis Project is the final part of the Master's degree programme. During this project, the student will be required to demonstrate their ability to conduct a DSAIT research project, design a solution, communicate and reflect about it.

Students can use ProjectForum.tudelft.nl to orientate themselves on possible thesis project topics, and contact potential thesis advisors and possibly a daily (co-) supervisor. When the student and thesis advisor agree on a thesis project topic, they plan a kick-off meeting (start date of the project); here, they check the suitability of the topic and discuss planning, milestones of the project and the resources and facilities offered by the faculty. The student and thesis advisor/supervisor plan two formative assessment moments, where they receive feedback from their thesis advisor/supervisor using a standardized rubric.

The first formative feedback moment, the first stage review, is 10 working weeks after the kick-off meeting. The second formative feedback moment, the greenlight review, takes place 14 working weeks after the first stage review. After a positive greenlight review, the student plans a thesis defence with the thesis committee after 6 working weeks.

It is possible for students to do their thesis project with an external company, under supervision of a thesis advisor.
