Research in Intelligent Decision Making
Beschrijving
Intelligent decision making is a key skill of computational agents. Research on this topic focuses on building models and algorithms that enable AI systems to take appropriate decisions.
Building upon theoretical knowledge gained in the Probabilistic Decision Making or Reasoning and Search themes, students collaborate in small groups on a distinct research project per group, for instance on decision-making problems in transport, logistics or smart energy grids. Purely algorithmic challenges will also be provided.
The research projects provide a good opportunity to learn about topics suitable for Master's projects.
Toetsing
The final grade of the course consists of the following components:
Group Assignment: quality of work of the research project (weighting 40%)
Group Report: a scientific report of the research project (weighting 20%)
Individual Assignment: performance during the project (weighting 30%)
Group Presentation: presentation of the research project (weighting 10%)
Final grade calculation = 0.4 * Group Assignment + 0.2 * Group Report + 0.3 * Individual Assignment + 0.1 * Group Presentation
A passing final grade for the course can only be earned when for all components at least a 5.0 is earned, and the weighted final grade is at least a 5.8.
In case of an insufficient final result, repair options may exist in accordance with Article 17A, Times and number of examinations, sub 1, of the Teaching and Examination Regulations, for:
Group Assignment: Repair opportunity
Group Report: Repair opportunity
Individual Assignment: No
Group Presentation: Resit opportunity
