Beschrijving

The course offers an introduction to all aspects of landside accessibility through assessing performances of transport modes and operational systems, related to transport to and from the airport. This includes elements of infrastructure and transport service networks, for which have to be considered: demand, capacity, spatial layout, economics, environmental and social impacts, local infrastructural development, and the complex integration of airports into regional and national transport system(s).

Amongst others, the lectures will contain:

  • Airport and airport systems and operations, including crowd monitoring and management in airports;

  • Landside access modes and systems related to airports: the conventional and advanced road en rail-based components, its operations and performances;

  • Performances of airport access modes, considering: infrastructural, technical/technological, operational, economic, environmental, social and policies;

  • Control and management of landside access modes: introduction into ITS (Intelligent Transport Solutions);

  • Planning and design of landside access modes and systems;

  • Developing an airport as the multimodal transport node.
