This course introduces students to the core principles, practices, and challenges of modern software engineering. In this course, students learn how to design and build reliable, maintainable, and scalable software systems, grounded in both theory and real-world practice. The course follows the full lifecycle of software development—from stakeholder communication and requirements elicitation to software design, quality assurance, and delivery

Final grade composition

  • Exam: 100%

  • Peer review: Pass/Fail

  • Oral Presentations: Pass/Fail

  • Attendance to weekly meetings (Oral Presentations): Pass/Fail

General remarks

  • Each component must be sufficient to pass the course.

  • Partial grades are not carried over to the next edition of this course.

  • In case you have completed Oral Presentations before, then you may be eligible for an exemption from the Oral Presentation module. Check Brightspace for more information.

Resits/repair

  • The re-sit will replace the grade for the exam only.

  • For the peer review, we allow you to fail one assignment. If you fail two assignments, you can request a repair opportunity, which will require extra work.

  • For the Oral Presentations part, we offer a single resit possibility.
