Beschrijving

In this research course you conduct deep investigation of recent techniques solving attractive problems in a research area of Computer Graphics including Visualization, Interaction, Image Processing, Inverse rendering and 3D data processing. You will survey research outputs in the area of your interest, present a selected paper and develop an implementation supporting the education on the topic. The goal is to strengthen your analytical and presentation skills and prepare you for research in your MSc project.

Toetsing

The final grade of the course consists of the following components:

  • Presentation: Presentation of a research paper and answering questions from the audience (weighting 50%)

  • Implementation: Implementation of a tool that helps to explain a part of the selected research paper (weighting 40%, including a short report and presentation)

  • Questions: Asking critical questions exploring properties of the presented scientific method (weighting 10%)

Final grade calculation: (0.5 * Presentation + 0.4 * Implementation + 0.1 * Questions)
A passing final grade for the course can only be earned if all components have at least a grade of 5.0 and the weighted average rounded on 0.5 is at least a 6.

In case of an insufficient final result, repair options may exist in accordance with Article 17A "Times and number of examinations", sub 1, of the Teaching and Examination Regulations, for:

  • Presentation of a recent scientific paper can be repaired by an individual video presentation of a state-of-the-art report + an oral examination. The content of each presented paper must be understood by the student.

  • Implementation component can be repaired by a new implementation following a new approved plan.

  • Preparation of each question for the assigned paper can be repaired by a short video presentation of the same paper.
