Transport Modelling: Traffic Assignment
Beschrijving
In this course we study a number of more advanced modelling techniques related to travel demand, traffic assignment and network loading, and how these are used (and needed!) for various model applications. We will approach advanced transport modelling in this course in two ways. On one hand, we will discuss modelling techniques such that you will become aware of a wider variety of models and that you understand their characteristics and (dis)advantages. On the other hand, we will discuss aspects to address when selecting and applying a transport model such that you will become skilled in how to execute a model study.
The course continues on basic concepts of transport modelling (as studied in the TTE track base) and explores a variety of more advanced transport modelling, both in research and practice. Main themes relate to activity-based models, non-equilibrium route choice models, multi-modal travel, capacity-restricted static models, crowding in transit assignment, and dynamic traffic assignment. These topics are illustrated by case study applications on a variety of topics related to network performance and analysis.
