Fibre-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) Structures
Beschrijving
B4-3:
The content of the units is defined within 2 themes:
Theme 1 (40%): Lightweight and slender steel structures, Stability and resistance of complex columns and frames. Stability of welded and rolled steel members. Cold-formed thin-walled steel members.
Theme 2 (60%): FRP Composite Structures Design of FRP structures FRP material behaviour. Analysis and verification of FRP structural members Analysis and verification of FRP joints and details.

B4-3:
LO1,3,4,5,6: Application of theoretical background, design and problem-solving skills are tested in open-book written exam with open-ended questions related to FRP composite material, structures and details, and buckling prone, thin-walled steel structure components.
LO2,3,5,6,7: The assessment of design and analysis skills and collaborative work are tested through an integral report on analysis and calculations that connect content of all 3 modules. Part of report related to unit 3 will focus on analysis and verification of limit states (ultimate, serviceability, fatigue) of critical cros- section or component of FRP composite structures and slender steel structures. The FE analysis from unit 3 will be implemented in the report, and compared to engineering tools and design verification standards.
